We were really excited to ride for Clinica Verde! Three of us visited Nicaragua in early 2011 (well 2 1/2 as Amaya was still a foetus at that stage). Clinica Verde (or green clinic) is located in rural Nicaragua and provides pre and post natal care for a very remote area of the country. Even though the clinic was still in the building phase when we visited, we were impressed with the ambitious plans that the clinic had in servicing mothers and children who would not normally have access to quality healthcare. Shoshanna was 4 months pregnant at the time and was benefiting from amazing care in Australia – the contrast between her experience and the people we met in the villages of Nicaragua was stark.

What it looks like today. The bright and attractive building creates a happy environment for mothers and children to receive quality care.
Both Amaya and Sebastian have had such incredible beginnings to their lives; a healthy birth, a nutritious diet, clean water and access to free medical treatment when needed. Our wish is that mothers and children all over the world enjoy a similar experience.
For this reason we decided to dedicate our cycle tour to raising funds and awareness for the plight of poor mothers and children in Nicaragua.

What an amazing place, with inspiring staff and lovely families who simply want to have medical care for their children, like all of us around the world. It is so wonderful that this medical service is available to everyone. It only this existed globally. Even so come Lord Jesus come.
Wow, I love what you guys are doing. What an amazing experience for Amaya ( and what a challenge for you guys!) Such a great thing to be raising money for. God bless your journey. Love Bec, Tim, Alita and Isaac xxxx
